TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It began (in 1984) as a conference which brought together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference on the West Coast each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
At TEDx events, a series of live presenters spark deep conversation and connections by sharing their “Ideas Worth Spreading” and TEDTalk Videos. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
Our first TEDxUtica event, “Dream. Develop. Deliver.”, will showcase presenters from across central New York and beyond, with ideas or missions that are worth sharing; ideas that could or do impact the Central New York area and its citizens.
TEDxUtica is an event that is designed to bring together a diverse group of our community’s thinkers, leaders, and change-makers to share ideas, collaborate, and be inspired to affect change in our lives and communities. TEDxUtica will be the beginning of this discussion and collaboration as it is a place to showcase big ideas and discover some of the ways that communities such as Utica can reach their full potential.
How we Fulfill Our Mission:
Speakers are chosen in hopes that we will expand the horizons of our audience. We want to encourage them to think of new possibilities and inspire them to create something amazing in their workplaces and community. The full roster of speakers and presenters will be announced in the Summer of 2013.
